(ABC 6 News) – 2022 is coming to an end, which means people across the country are getting ready to make their New Year’s resolutions.
One of the most popular resolutions every year is to start going to the gym to get in better shape.
Some of the more common goals are to lose weight, exercise more and eat healthier.
Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic have guidelines to help you stick to your resolutions.
They recommend focusing on starting a behavior rather than stopping one as well as setting realistic goals.
Leyton Bohr, a trainer at burn boot camp in Rochester, says making the decision to live a healthy lifestyle is the best first step. But committing to those goals is important because the results don’t happen overnight.
“We live in an instant gratification world where like we need it now and this needs to happen now.” Bohr said. “if you come in four or five days a week, for at least 6 to 8 weeks, you’re going to see results,” Bohr said.
Bohr says he’s already seen an increase of memberships before we head into 2023. Crediting the increase of to the current community members has helped build.
Which is a valuable tool, because studies show that if you have a friend or a partner, you are more likely to keep your resolution.
“I think our members are definitely getting their friends and family ready for the new year.” Bohr said. “which gets rid of the mentality of new years resolution to get started on your healthy life style.”
Right now, gyms are offering special deals to get you in the door for the new year.
