Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the all-new electric GLC 400 4MATIC will be launched in India by the end of 2026, with local assembly beginning before the year ends. The SUV is already listed on the company’s website, though pricing and detailed variant information remain unannounced. The GLC 400 BEV will mark the fastest transition from a global showcase to local production in the company’s history, taking less than eight months to reach the Indian market.
The electric SUV is larger than the current internal combustion version sold in India, measuring 4858 mm in length, 1913 mm in width, and 1649 mm in height. It features a longer wheelbase of 2972 mm, with Mercedes-Benz confirming that the standard-wheelbase model is the only variant planned for the country. The GLC 400 is powered by a large battery pack delivering 490 PS and 800 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds. The claimed WLTP range stands at 715 km.
Design and Technology Upgrades
The new GLC electric introduces a distinct interpretation of the brand’s SUV design language. It features an illuminated closed-off grille with the three-pointed star logo surrounded by a pixel-like pattern, along with new headlamp signatures. The design draws a visual connection to the iconic W112 S-Class 300 SE, blending heritage cues with a modern interpretation.
Inside the cabin, the GLC 400 BEV features the MBUX Hyperscreen running on MB OS, which stretches across the dashboard to create a large digital interface. The vehicle also includes a new panoramic sunroof with Sky Control and illumination. This roof can be electronically adjusted to alter its transparency, while the illuminated pattern enhances the cabin ambience.
Mercedes-Benz expects bookings to open from the first week of October 2026, with local assembly playing a key role in the model’s positioning. The company has not yet released the pricing or variant list.
