BMW has introduced a new incentive for customers purchasing its upcoming 2027 electric vehicles, including the i5, i7, and iX3. Under the program, buyers and lessees will receive $500 in free public charging credits, valid for one year from the vehicle’s purchase date. The offer applies to all qualifying transactions, whether through outright purchase or lease agreements.
The $500 is divided into two portions. The first $300 can be used across multiple charging networks, such as Ionna, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo. The remaining $200 must be spent exclusively at Ionna stations, reflecting BMW’s partnership with the provider. To access these credits, drivers must register through the BMW app and connect it to the BMW Charging Network. Once activated, the funds apply automatically to eligible charging sessions. Buyers also gain a complimentary year of Ionna membership, which includes a 25% discount on all charges at the network’s locations.
The program coincides with the rollout of BMW’s Neue Klasse electric lineup, which emphasizes long-range performance and rapid charging capabilities. The iX3, for instance, delivers over 400 miles of range and supports 400-kilowatt fast charging. Meanwhile, the i7 features an advanced digital interface and a panoramic display, setting it apart from competitors. These models represent a shift toward high-tech, premium electric vehicles within BMW’s portfolio.
For potential buyers evaluating options, the i5 remains a more accessible choice, offering solid range and familiar handling. However, it does not match the technological sophistication or performance of the newer models. The free charging credits may help balance the higher initial cost of the i7 and iX3, particularly for drivers who depend on public charging stations regularly.
